Foundation and targets
The Advisory Councils on Terschelling and Vlieland were established in 2014, in connection with the agreements of the settlement between the State of the Netherlands, EVT (Terschelling’s Own Ferry Service) and TSM, at the concession. The purpose of these Advisory Councils is to increase and guarantee public participation of the islanders on ferry-related services.
Meetings
The meetings of the ACs take place at least twice a year on the island and more often if required. Prior to the meetings the inhabitants of Terschelling and Vlieland are invited to contribute widespread topics for discussion. The meetings of the ACs are chaired by an independent chairman.
Composition
The composition of the ACs has been realized on the advice of participants to the settlement. The composition, the powers and the embedding of AC’s have been set down in the Regulations for the Advisory Council and the House Rules. The members of the ACs are mandated representatives of stakeholder groups on the island.
