Work around terminals

Currently Rijkswaterstaat (part of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management) will be carrying out major work around the terminals. The work will take several months. We wish to ensure that passengers to and from the islands experience little or no inconvenience during the work. We would like to keep you informed via our website. Please read the information below carefully before you travel. Welcome aboard!

Renovation and maintenance

Improvement of quays and sheet piling

Broadly speaking, these improvements are:

  • The sites will be re-asphalted and classified and the mooring posts will be conserved again.
  • To protect the function of the sheet pile, 450 anodes are installed (cathodic protection). As a result, the sheet piles will rust less quickly.
  • The car and passenger bridges are being overhauled. For this they will be temporarily removed and replaced.

Schedule

Work will start in Harlingen in April 2022. If everything goes according to plan, work on Vlieland and Terschelling starts in 2023.

Does the work cause inconvenience?

What does this mean for our passengers?

The work will not affect the timetable of the ferries to Vlieland and Terschelling. The work is planned as much as possible around events, public holidays and holidays.

We ask passengers the following:

  • Do not arrive too early at the terminal. We recommend arriving 30 minutes before departure. Due to the work there is less space than usual.
  • Only park in the designated places.
  • Be aware of some inconvenience during embarkation and disembarkation. You may board in a different way than usual. Follow all instructions from our employees. They ensure that you can board safely and on time.

Thank you very much for your cooperation and understanding!
