By train to Harlingen? Easily book your public transport trip at the same time as your boat ticket. All Arriva train stations in Friesland and Groningen participate. Complete your trip and travel worry-free. Quickly arranged and also better for the environment.

Valid daily (also before 9:00 am and during the weekend) until December 31, 2025 in combination with your Rederij Doeksen boat ticket on the corresponding travel days.

Important to know

  • The Wadden return is only bookable for return journeys.
  • Upon confirmation of the Wadden return, you will receive two train tickets in addition to the boat tickets. You can use one for the outward journey and one for the return journey.
  • On the train you can be asked for a valid proof of identity.
  • Bicycle not included. You can reserve a place for your bicycle on the train by buying a bicycle ticket from Arriva. Tickets are available at the Arriva vending machines at the Frisian and Groningen stations and at Arriva stores in Leeuwarden and Groningen.
  • The round trip does not have to be on the same day.

 

Terms and Conditions

  • You can easily cancel your booking before the train journey and the booked departure have taken place. You can cancel via the website, by telephone and at the desk. Cancellations received by e-mail will not be processed.
  • The Wadden return is valid only on the railway line from Arriva (Leeuwarden / Groningen / Sneek) to Harlingen.
  • The valid route depends on the Waddenretour ticket booked (see your Rederij Doeksen ticket). The Waddenretour ticket is only valid on the day of your ferry trip in combination with a valid Rederij Doeksen ferry ticket.
  • Not valid for group travel, travel by car, or for pass holders.
  • The Wadden return is not valid in combination with other discount promotions and / or discount programs.

Climate compensation

The Wadden return is a collaboration between Rederij Doeksen and Arriva. Rederij Doeksen hopes to encourage more passengers to use public transport by offering the Wadden return service. This limits, among other things, CO2 emissions and this fits in with the green goals of the company.

Passengers who want to make their shipping more sustainable book a voluntary surcharge of € 0.50. With this amount you support local CO2-reducing projects on Terschelling and Vlieland since 2021. Rederij Doeksen annually compensates for 5,000 business trips of its employees. In this way we ensure a cleaner Wadden environment together. Are you participating?
